About this policy

This policy covers the game Honeystack for Meta Quest. Each New Run Studios game has its own privacy policy; this one is only about Honeystack.

Honeystack is made by New Run Studios LLC ("we", "us"). For the purposes of data protection law, we are the party responsible for the game.

The short version

Honeystack has no accounts, no chat and no ads. Your progress stays on your headset.

The game sends anonymous play statistics to Google Firebase Analytics so we can see which levels are too hard. It never asks who you are. You can turn this off at any time in Settings, and you can ask us to delete your data at any time (see How to request deletion of your data).

Data collected and stored on your headset

The game saves these things on your headset so that it can pick up where you left off:

  • each player's progress: levels completed, honey jars made, Hammer and Refresh charges, and the daily board streak
  • your settings: volume, number of bees, which of the two players is active, and whether Stats are on

None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. Uninstalling Honeystack deletes it.

Data collected and how it is used: play statistics

While Stats are on, the game sends these to Google Firebase Analytics:

  • How you play: when a level starts, is won or gets stuck, how long it took, and how many undos, restarts, Hammers and Refreshes were used; daily board plays; honey house visits; and finishing the game.
  • About the headset and the game: the headset model, its system version and language, and the game's version. Each installation of the game is given a random number so that Google can tell one installation's events from another's. It is not your Meta account and does not say who you are.
  • Rough location: your country or region, which Google works out from your internet address. Google does not give us the address.

We use these statistics only to improve Honeystack: to find levels that are too hard or too easy, and problems that stop people playing. We do not sell them, use them for advertising, or try to work out who you are.

Google processes the statistics for us. See Firebase's privacy information and how Google uses information from apps that use its services. Statistics linked to an installation are kept for 2 months; after that only totals remain.

Turning statistics off

Open Settings on the bench and press Stats so it reads "Stats: Off". The game stops sending at once and clears any statistics waiting to be sent. Press it again to turn Stats back on.

Data the game does not collect

  • It does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, age or date of birth.
  • It does not use your precise location, microphone, camera or anything you see in the headset.
  • It does not use an advertising ID or Android ID, and advertising features are turned off.
  • Your hands and controllers are read only to let you play. Their positions are never stored or sent.

Meta

You buy and download Honeystack through the Meta Horizon Store, and your headset runs Meta's software. Meta handles your account, purchase and device data under the Supplemental Meta Platforms Technologies Privacy Policy. We do not receive that information, beyond the sales reports Meta gives developers.

Children

Honeystack is suitable for all ages but is not made for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. A parent can turn Stats off on the child's headset, or write to us to have statistics from it deleted.

How to request deletion of your data

You can ask us to delete your data at any time:

  1. Email support@newrunstudios.com with the subject "Delete my data".
  2. Tell us the headset model and roughly when you played, so we can find the statistics from your installation.
  3. Within 30 days we delete any play statistics we can match to your installation, and email you to confirm. The statistics carry no name or account, so we may not be able to match them; any we cannot match are deleted automatically after 2 months.

The data saved on your headset is yours to delete at any time: uninstalling Honeystack deletes it. Turning Stats off stops any new statistics.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to see the information we hold about you or to ask us to correct it. Write to the same address and we will reply within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If we change what Honeystack collects, we will update this page and the effective date before that version of the game is released.
